The Ecological Reservation Dry Pomac Forest

Ancient chronicles say the some 500 years ago, half a century before the Spanish conquest, the Peruvian coast was covered in dense forest.

It is even said that you could walk from one valley to another with out leaving the shade of the threes. There were huarangos or faiques, willows, sapotes, molles and above all great carob groves. Woodland animals were abundant and varied, the men of that time understood and made use of the forest products. Located 36 km north east from Chiclayo, to get there we take east road to towards Pitipo town, in Ferreñafe. Then we go 10 km to La Zaranda town.

Here the Sican Kingdom begins. It's inside the Pomac forest. There is a Tourist Information Center here.

The Ecologic Reservation Dry Pomac Forest is in an area of 134 km2, jungle like, a unique zone with coastal fauna in danger of extinction.

The typical flora species area algarrobos, zapotes and vichayos, an d rare animals examples.

It is the natural habit for bears, serpents and snakes, iguanas and other animals. This is the place for the birdwatchers. There is a big variety of birds and hundreds of insects.

There is also a nice and secure place for camping. Few meters away, you'll find an old algarrobo tree, wich gave birth to numerous legends. This place is the favorite spot for witch doctors, wizards and magicians.

Chiclayo, es la ciudad capital del departamento de Lambayeque. Ubicada en la parte norte del Perú, a 13Km. del litoral y 509 Km. de la frontera con el Ecuador.

Elevada a la categoría de ciudad, el 15 de Abril de 1835, por el entonces presidente, coronel Felipe Santiago Salaverry. El cual le confiriere el título de "Ciudad Heroica" que ostenta hasta hoy, en reconocimiento al coraje de los chiclayanos.

En la actualidad Chiclayo es una de las ciudades más importantes del Perú, en ella se reúnen los ingredientes de una moderna metrópoli, el espíritu campechano de las ciudades de Provincia, así como la historia, leyenda y tradición.

Esta ciudad es llamada también la Capital de la Amistad, Ciudad Heróica y Perla del Norte del Perú.

El turismo cultural y arqueologico se convertirá en los próximos años, en el principal ingreso de la región.
